What are the activities of the NCF?

Nurses Christian Fellowship partners with Southeast Christian Church in Louisville, KY for the Global Missions Health Conference November 10 & 11, 2006. Plenary and workshop topics focus on preventative and curative health care both domestically and abroad as well as caring for the whole person. This conference is designed to motivate, train, and equip all types of health care workers for both health care and kingdom work in our Father’s name. Students are especially welcome and Southeast Christian Church facilitates housing for students in the homes of church members. Nurses Christian Fellowship will host an informal supper on Friday evening to facilitate interaction between missionary nurses and nurses interested in missions. The good news of Jesus Christ is communicated through relationships. NCF aims to help students and nurses discover what it means to know God through a relationship with Jesus Christ and to live out that relationship in nursing, bringing hope to our colleagues and those in our care.

NCF provides a local, regional, national and international network for Christian nursing. Local groups meet for prayer, Bible study, mutual encouragement and outreach. NCF staff and volunteers provide mentoring, vision for ministry and help to establish campus and area-wide chapters. NCF membership enables Christian nurses to officially identify with NCF's vision and goals.

Continuing Nursing Education

Beginning with students NCF aims to encourage lifelong education to integrate a Christian worldview in nursing.

Area, national and international continuing education programs and conferences provide spiritual and professional growth opportunities.

Topics include Christian growth, spiritual care, suffering, death, healing, stress and conflict management, ethics and values. We also seek to evaluate and influence nursing trends and theories from a Christian perspective through conferences and networking among Christian faculty, graduate students and clinical leaders.

Resources and guidance for planning and organizing conferences are available through the NCF Continuing Education ministry.

Written materials include guidelines for starting groups, textbooks on spiritual care and Christian ethics, Bible study guides and the Journal of Christian Nursing. Members receive regular newsletters and prayer updates. Specific resources are available for students, faculty and graduate students, including Campus Vitals and listings of theses and dissertations that include the spiritual dimension from a Christian perspective.
